How Do Phobias Start?
For many people a fear may have started as a single traumatic event. For example if you were bitten by a dog as a child you may have developed a phobia to dogs. Some people have taken onboard another persons fear and associate with their fear. For example you may have seen a person attacked by a dog or seen a horror movie with scary dogs. How many people had fear of sharks after Jaws first came out? For other people the fear may have built up slowly over time. For example several rough plane trips may eventually build slowly form a minor fear of flying to the point where a full blown severe phobia mentally and emotionally cripples the sufferer.
